Our first task was to find a proper piece of land for Rancho Cinco. . . not as easy as it sounds.
My requirements were not all that difficult or at least I didn’t think so.. . . I wanted water on the property, a decent size footprint of 20 acres or more, away from people and within an hour of Nashville. . After a two year search we settled on 55 acres of hunting property about an hour east of Nashville nestled at the foot of the Cumberland Plateau in Liberty Tennessee. . . population 308.
This property had all my requirements. . . . It sets on the side of a small mountain or tall hill. . . it’s layered with a meadow just off the one car road, then a natural spring runs full length with another meadow on the other side. From there the property runs up hill and opens up onto yet another meadow. From there it runs uphill again to the top where there is an old dirt access road. Where there are no meadows it is densely populated with trees and natural underbrush.
On any given day you’ll see deer, turkey and other critters roaming freely at their daily business. . . not to mention the snakes, spiders and things I can’t even name. . the property is very alive. . .
Here are a few pics of where our adventure started.
